Church Find welcomes Teen Challenge Centralia in Alice Springs, who are engaged in a revitalisation journey enriching the community, for all their latest times and information including times.
Teen Challenge Centralia is a Christian based outreach program that has been incorporated since 2004. We are based in Alice Springs, although there are Teen Challenge Centres world - wide since 1959 well known for their successful rehabilitation programs.
Our main programs focus around Indigenous young people. We had been running an adapted 12 Step Plus program (a visual presentation relating to life controlling issues and substance abuse) since 2004-2011 at Yirara College, a Lutheran Boarding school for young Indigenous youth from the remote communities of Australia. This program has lately been presented to some troubled Caucasian youth for a short period as well as in the youth detention centre for an Indigenous young man.
We had run a very successful “Shine” self esteem program every term for the Indigenous girls from remote communities at Yirara since 2007 until end of 2010 and returned for one term in 2012. This year we had Shine programs with Missions Australia at a girl’s summer camp and back at Yipirinya School again with much success. We are now at Santa Teresa School, one hour’s dusty drive from Alice Springs.
The Shine program was also presented twice at the Central Australian Aboriginal Alcohol Program Unit for women working through their addictions. We were also asked to run a Shine program for young girls who were under the care of the Department of Family and Children’s Services. The 4 beautiful girls chosen thoroughly enjoyed their school holiday program feeling like princesses by the end of it.
